Institute of International Trade, Kolkata, successfully conducted a 2-days' executive education and training program on Export Management. Held at Hotel Hindusthan International on 21st and 22nd January 2011, the program brought together experts and executives from across the export centered industries under one roof to deliberate upon international commercial trade and export management. The highlights of the program included a focused approach at the concerns of international trade professionals and an understanding of the global market-place, along with the entire process, from a practical customer-driven viewpoint.

The program was made a grand success with participations from various export centric governmental and non-governmental organizations. A majority of the participants belonged to govt. organizations including MSTC Ltd., BieccoLawrie Ltd., and also Central Excise and Customs Department. The major study areas of the program were international trade procedures and formalities, export promotion measures, documentation, logistics, export financing, credit risk management, central excise clearance, distribution strategies, and market penetration.

Speakers

Prof. Saptarshi Banerjee
Specialisation: Shipping, Logistics & Supply Chain Management

He graduated in Economics (Hons.) from St. Xavier's College. He has over 26 years of work experience in international trade with special focus on export-import management and documentation, shipping, logistics and supply chain management.

He is also a Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Transport, London and also holds a diploma in Foreign Trade Management from the Institute of Export Management (affiliated to the Institute of Export, London).

 

Mr. M. K. Sil, IRS (Retd.)
Specialisation: Customs, Excise, and International Trade

With a career track spanning three decades, he has been awarded President Award twice, in 1982 and 1989. In 1993, he was honoured by the Secretary General, World Customs Organization, (WCO), Brussels, in recognition of exceptionally meritorious service in the Customs Administration of India. He also served as Ex-Jt. Director, National Academy of Customs, Excise & Narcotics, GoI

Currently he is a Visiting Faculty in UN Environment Program; Member, Board of Studies for various PGD courses conducted by the Netaji Subash Open University. Empanelled as Special Departmental Council, East Zone by The Central Board of Excise and Customs.

 

Mr. V. Alagesan, B.Sc (Ag.), MBA, M.Phil (Intl. Business)
Specialisation: International Business, Banking, and Finance

With banking experience of more than 25 years in a leading Indian nationalised bank, Mr. Alagesan is also a hard core academician. He has delivered lectures in All India Management Association, Indian Institute of Banking & Finance etc., to name a few, on topics such as Corporate Finance, Banking Law, Risk Management etc. He has also acted as an external examiner for many institutes.

 

Prof. Asok Banerjee, B. Tech (Mech), PGDM (IIM-C)
Specialisation: International Marketing & Strategy

Prof. Banerjee has conducted training programs for a no. of reputed companies including Hyundai, ITC, Oberoi Grand, Britannia, Titan, Heinz, ACC etc. He was former VP-Marketing in Fosters' Brewing Group, and former GM in Shaw Wallace. He regularly lectures at the Calcutta Management Association, CAPEXIL, and FIEO. He was the former HoD, and Professor of Marketing & Strategy, IISWBM, Kolkata. He is a very senior member of the executive council of Kolkata Mgt. Association (AIMA). Prof. Banerjee is also the Secretary of IIM-Kolkata Alumni Association.
